You might think when a child should be able to write their name. It is a good question and the answer is: Having your child practice his or her name is a great way to get started with writing. Not only is it an important early skill that they will use, but it is also something that your child will enjoy practicing. But names can be so diverse! That’s why I’ve created the Name building and Writing. This free editable name tracing worksheet is printable so your child can practice writing their name.
Should kids use capital letters when writing their names?
Being composed of simpler lines and curves, capital letters are easier for a young child to learn first.
Additionally, your child will succeed more if they can actually form the capital letters.
I would not advise doing that, though, as it will take time for you or another teacher to reach the child to write it in a proper way in the future.
Editable name tracing practice printable can help
While most children do not need to be able to write well by the time they enter kindergarten, even preschool classes teach name recognition. That includes both identifying and writing a child’s name.
When preschoolers are learning name writing, it’s important to make things really simple for them. I personally use name-tracing worksheets to help develop those early writing skills.
Use the blank template to create worksheets For your students to practice reading, building & writing their names. Open In Adobe (PDF) , Word, or PowerPoint and simply print and write in the letters on the string and dot letters in the trace section.

Thank you ? ?
Lots of freebies. ?
You’ve mentioned somewhere in your blog that you are creating resources too.
I’m looking for a name mat that will have a ruler too.
I would happily pay for it some $ too.
Shoot me an email if you have or will create one [email protected]
Thanks for the freebie.
Definitely going to use it.
From where did you get those letters ? Are they magnetic?
I’m thinking of laminating and maybe adjusting to a magnetic board this worksheet so that my kiddos won’t have to worry about letters moving or falling. I should’ve mentioned that I wanna use it with my very low students. I have a few.
