Here are some ideas on how to create your own Bookmarks.
- Ribbon Bookmark: Cut a length of ribbon, about 8-10 inches long. Tie a knot at one end and decorate the other end with stickers or drawings. This can also be a great opportunity to teach children how to tie a bow.
- Popsicle Stick Bookmark: Color or paint a popsicle stick, then add stickers or drawings to decorate it. Punch a hole at the top and add a piece of yarn or ribbon to hang from the book.
- Cardstock Bookmark: Cut a rectangle out of cardstock paper and decorate it with stickers or drawings. Punch a hole at the top and add a piece of yarn or ribbon to hang from the book.
- Clothespin Bookmark: Color or paint a wooden clothespin and add stickers or drawings to decorate it. Clip the clothespin onto the page of the book to mark your place.
- Magnetic Bookmark: Cut a rectangle out of cardstock paper and decorate it with stickers or drawings. Glue a small magnet to the back of the bookmark and it will stick to the page of the book.
Encourage children to use their bookmarks every time they read to help them develop good reading habits and keep track of their progress.
